Comments
When visitors leave comments, the site collects the data shown in the comment form. We also gather the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string; we use this information for spam detection. Anonymized strings created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service for checking. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approving a comment, the public can see your profile picture alongside it.
Media
When you upload images, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images placed on the website.
Cookies
Leaving a comment allows you to opt-in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This saves time by preventing you from re-entering details for future comments. These convenience cookies last for one year. When visitors reach our login page, we set a temporary cookie simply to check if your browser accepts them; this cookie holds no personal data and deletes when you close the browser.
When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies remain active for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the saved login cookies. If an article is edited or published, we save an additional cookie in your browser. This cookie holds no personal data; it only indicates the post ID of the article you just changed. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Our articles might include embedded content (videos, images, etc.) from other sites. When this happens, the embedded content behaves exactly as if the visitor went to that external website directly. Those external sites may collect data about you. They may use cookies and embed additional third-party tracking. Your interaction with the content—including tracking when you are logged into their site—may be monitored by them.

How long we retain your data
We retain comments and their metadata indefinitely. This practice lets us recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in moderation. For users who register on our site, we store the personal information they provide in a user profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information anytime (except for their username). Website administrators also have access to see and edit this information. All collected personal data will only be used for marketing purposes.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including everything you provided. You can also ask us to erase any personal data we keep about you. This request does not cover any data that law requires us to maintain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
